Getting Started

Determine whether you have a south-facing roof or yard space for a ground mounted system. For the peak performance, a system should face 150 to 210 degrees due south. Shading must be eliminated prior to installation.

Site assessment: The site assessment will determine the appropriate system size, considering the number of people in the household or business and system use or uses (whether it will include subsidizing existing radiant floor heating, for example).  You will also find out the system cost and payback, where it will be located, and where the pipes will run.  The site assessment usualy takes around 2 hours and you will be given a full explanation of how a solar thermal system works and what will be most effective for your home or work.  We offer site assessments for $75, please call or email to set up an apointment.

Complete an Installation Agreement:  CEC will create an installation agreement for your system based on the results of a site assessment.  The agreement will include prices that are good for one month from the date received.  Sign the agreement and send in a $200 down payment/membership.  Half of the remaining system cost will be due within two weeks of your Focus on Energy Cash-Back Reward approval and the remaining 50% will be due on the date of installation.

Installations usualy begin one to two months from the date the installation agreement is signed.  Installations are scheduled to coincide with other people in the area.    The system is usually fully installed in one to five days.  Home or business owners need to be present; the installers will answer questions, describe the system, and supply warranties and a manual for the system.
